Rambutan is a tropical fruit that is a medium to large tree. It originated in Indonesia. It grows well in soil with relatively high humidity, around 25-30 degrees Celsius.

It is popularly grown in the eastern and southern regions of Thailand. It is an economic crop. Rambutan fruits are exported abroad, generating a lot of income for farmers.

There are only 3 types of rambutan that are popularly grown for commercial purposes in Thailand: Golden Rambutan, Pink Rambutan, and School Rambutan (Na Sar Rambutan).
